Christmas is less than a month away now, and I've gone full-swing into Christmas mode. Yes, that's right--the author of E.V.I.L. is actually full of holiday cheer. It's stressful, to be sure, with the crazy traffic and every store packed with rabid holiday shoppers. Not to mention watching my bank account plummet as I buy gifts and fret over whether or not my friends and family will even LIKE what I get them. And yet, for some reason there's something about the bright-colored lights, the cheesy, saccharine carols, the pumpkin spice and peppermint flavored EVERYTHING, and the ridiculous abundance of green and red everywhere that actually lifts your spirits.

E.V.I.L. readers, whatever your beliefs and however you celebrate the holiday season, I hope it is a special time of year for you as well. Thank you for reading my comic, and Happy Holidays.

Loyalty is a VASTLY underrated skill in the world of villainy.

Empires based on fear tend to collapse quickly. Empires based on greed don't fare much better. (Unless they happen to be corporations, but that's an entirely different kind of evil.)

If your underlings aren't loyal, what's to stop them from betraying you? Having underlings that are loyal ensures that they will follow you regardless of circumstances.

So yes, that is a good skill to have. They can also occasionally keep you from making a mistake--the best loyalty, after all, is not blind obedience. The best loyalty is knowing when to follow, when to follow with concern, and when following would be a bad idea.
